Three of the young people from Holly Trees have been attending Lego Therapy this year. This has been organised and carried out by the Speech and Language Therapy team and their Teaching Assistant. Lego Therapy encourages collaborative working, sharing, turn taking and listening skills as well as encouraging young people to give detailed instructions containing lots of descriptions and concepts such as ‘left’ and ‘right’, ‘behind’, ‘under’ ‘next to’ etc.
All three boys have tried really hard and are now working well as a team to build some really difficult models – they have even built an aeroplane! Before the summer holidays we held an exhibition where we invited the other young people to look at our models. We all enjoyed having some free play with the Lego too, as well as designing our own Lego figures.
