Remembrance Day – 2018

The staff and young people take great pride in learning about and discussing the amazing efforts of all those who fought in the WW’s.

Being part of our local community is very important to everyone here and to continue forming these links we enjoyed being involved in the 100 years celebration since WW1 ended. The young people chose a poppy wreath to take to  the memorial in Kirkby Lonsdale to lay  it with a number of others from the community.

Members of the School Council went to the WW1 Memorial in the Churchyard .We were met by local RAF Veteran Alan Day, who spoke about the history and reason for the memorial. The young people proudly laid the wreath and we all took part in a 2 minutes silence to reflect and remember.

Thank you to the School Council Representatives; Nicole, Niall, Corey and George who are a credit to themselves and Underley Garden.

As well as the above, all young people and staff contributed to a wonderful display which included artwork, poems and individual thoughts about Remembrance Day. The display was extremely effective and everyone has taken time to read the poems and take a minute to admire it.
