The Villa @ Levens Hotel Visit

Following on from our successful Careers week opportunities, we managed to arrange a visit to the Villa @ Levens, to explore the hospitality sector and the roles included in making the hotel successful. A group arrived at the Villa with a lovely warm welcome from Josh who immediately began to introduce us to the amazing hotel. He had a range of different jobs for us to experience and once he had a chat and answered our questions, we set to work answering some phone calls behind reception and learning about the different jobs a receptionist does. Josh then took us onto looking at some of the rooms they have in the hotel and we learnt some more about the housekeeping jobs, testing our folding skills with the laundry. Next, we entered the restaurant area where we all got to have a turn at practicing our waitress skills. We explored where food was stored and how it is cooked in the kitchen. We really enjoyed going behind the bar and learning the steps you need to do to make mocktails! The best part was definitely looking around where the wedding receptions are held and having a boogie on the dancefloor looking at all the different lights. Overall, we all felt very welcome and had a fantastic time looking around the Villa learning about all the different jobs there is.
