This half term in Careers, HT5 have been looking at Entrepreneurism and decided to try to make some money for Stand Up 2 Cancer. They wanted to create a car wash and valet service for staff. The learners looked at how much money they could charge, and what they are going to offer to justify the price. The learners created a poster each, chose the best one through a vote and used that poster to advertise the car wash.
During the car wash the boys were able to decide between them what service they would each provide, working as a team to complete each car as efficiently as possible. Swapping around to find out each-others strongest areas. The inside of the cars were vacuumed and cleaned using the correct tool/product for the job. They communicated with each other throughout as to the progress being made. After the inside was complete to a high standard, each person quality checked the other team members work to assure consistent performance. Another team worked on the outside of the cars, utilising the correct cleaning products and tools to wash and rinse to a high standard. This was checked by another team member to ensure a consistent high standard.
Once the cars were completed, the class created invoices and review forms. These were given to the customers and monies collected. The class were able to keep a record of who had paid and were able to professionally remind those who had not paid that payment was due.
Altogether the students have raised £206 for Stand Up 2 Cancer.
