Remembrance Day 2019
This is always an event we celebrate in Underley Garden School and as part of the local community.
At the start of the Autumn term the young people designed and made large wooden figures of Second World War Soldiers which they painted black and displayed at the entrance to the school. Alongside the soldiers they draped netting and placed poppies on top. In Art everyone contributed and worked together to create poppy banners using individually designed templates and paint. The banners were hung from the windows and outside.
To reflect and remember we always write Remembrance poetry. This year the young people and staff wrote some poignant and thoughtful poems which are part of our Remembrance Display.
‘On the 11th hour of the 11th month we will remember them’ as part of our annual event members of the School Council joined the local community in Kirkby Lonsdale and showed their respect to those who gave their lives for our country. They laid a poppy wreath at the 1st WW Memorial and participated in a 2 minutes silence.
